Content Creation for CLAPA

The above image is a mock-up.

To build on my skills in content creation, I started a self-led project to create marketing materials for the Cleft Lip and Palate Association, CLAPA. I have created an Instagram post to raise awareness of the opportunity to take part in Kiltwalk to raise money for CLAPA.

The first step I took was to research the charity and understand their mission. CLAPA is the national charity supporting people with cleft lip and palate, as well as thier families. They bring together people affected by cleft, providing a supportive community.

Using Adobe Illustrator

I identified a key symbol for this event, which was the kilt. I wanted to create an illustration of a kilt in CLAPA’s brand colours as visual element for the event’s instagram post. The aim was to draw attention to the post, encouraging Instagram users to stop scrolling and find out more.

I researched kilt illustrations and combined some of the elements that I saw in each one to come up with a design that was clear and simple. The following steps were used to bring this illustration to life:

I am very pleased with the outcome of this illustration, and was excited to bring this over to Photoshop to complete the post…

Designing the post in Photoshop

I used this asset within the design for this Instagram post using Adobe Photoshop. Through researching CLAPA’s social media pages, I was able to identify several features that are commonly used within their marketing materials. I implemented some of these features, such as incorporating the logo, web link and playful shapes, in order to stay consistent with CLAPA’s brand identity. I carefully considered the text used within the design in order to clearly and concisely communicate the opportunity and key information, using the kilt as a playful element to draw attention to the post
